Welcome to Blog Fest 2010!

We’d like to welcome you to Fiction Flurry! First, who are we? Well, the Fiction Flurry blog grew out of the Marysville (Ohio) Writers Group. We are a gathering of writers from every single genre: literary fiction, romance, YA, paranormal, Christian, essayists, self-published and then some! We chose the name because it sounds like a yummy treat! We post on books and writing. If you like to talk literary arts, this is the place for you! After Blog Fest is over, we hope you will come back to visit often.

To celebrate Blog Fest, we are giving away *TEN* great books to *TEN* lucky winners. It is SO EASY to win. Every single BLOG FOLLOWER gets one entry into our contest. If you leave us a comment answering this question, you will get THREE ENTRIES to win.

Here’s the question: what would you like to see discussed here at the Fiction Flurry blog? Do you have an idea for a topic or a posting? Is there a particular genre that you’d like to learn more about?

That’s it – all you have to do is leave us some feedback, and you could win one of these books:

A Blade of Grass: A Novel (P.S.)Standing in the RainbowSwift as Desire
The Tenth Circle: A NovelSunset in St. Tropez
The Appeal
The Tenth JusticeThe Sisters Mallone: Una Storia Di Famiglia
The Touch: A Novel

  4. I think it would be great to have a series of posts, where all contributors would get a bit more personal so we could know you a bit better: tell us about some bookish/reading memories, where do you like to read, any reading-related snacks? etc.

  61. Great question for your giveaway!
I would like to know what influences each of you in your writing and your reading...why do you choose the topics you choose to read about and write about?

I was an english major in college and, as such, have a decent background in classic literature. I'm always interested in comparing classic books by well-known authors to more contemporary fiction...does it seem that the "modern' author was influenced by classic literature and authors and, if so, any one in particular or just a genereal overall influence?

Additionally, I'm interested to see how contemporary authors reflect the current time...morals, values, politics, styles, societal concerns in their books versus how classic authors reflected these same issues in society in their books at the time they wrote.

Thank you for such a generous giveaway!

  123. I'm a follower. I really don't have any suggestions! Though I do like the suggestion of comparing mystery authors or maybe an "this author is similar to.,." feature uf you don't do that!

  140. YA fiction is such a vibrant field at this time. There are many good authors, some exclusive to YA and many writers for adults who are adding YA to their work. That would be an interesting topic.
